WORK-PLACE (HUMAN CAPITAL): THE HYBRID WORKFORCE

Many agencies are conducting research to determine how to develop a work-place environment that is safe, that allows workers to efficiently communicate, optimizes space and provides an environment that encourages employee engagement.  That engagement can help agencies develop a culture that encourages teamwork and intensifies a desire to work together, as a team.

Employee retention has become a major focus now for most agencies, especially now that many organizations are offering telework options.  Providing a Work-place that employees enjoy has become extremely important.  Industry specialists can assist agencies tasked with evaluation options for redesigning the Work-place.  Furniture solutions are also available to compliment many of the design improvements.

The Office of Personnel Management’s website provides this overview of Policy, Data, Oversight Human Capital Management:

“…the Strategic Human Capital Management processes used to cultivate and manage the workforce must be integrated into agency planning and management processes, remain current with research and best practices, allow for proactive responses to anticipated environmental changes, and seek to continuously maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of Human Resource (HR) service delivery”.

DESIGNING YOUR NEW WORK-PLACE

The changes that agencies have experienced, since the pandemic surfaced, reminds us that teams need to develop solutions that can quickly adapt.

There is not a one-size-fits-all solution to designing a Work-place that addresses agency goals and also introduces a new culture and environment where most employees feel comfortable, or possibly even desire to go to work.

Recent surveys conducted by agencies reinforce the concern that some employees are not satisfied with their current work status/position and some are even contemplating leaving to work for the commercial sector.  Employee retention and the need to hire talented employees is extremely important today.  Developing a work environment that builds a culture of inclusivity and that inspires a desire to collaborate, can be the catalyst to your agency’s success.

FSA’s partners are available to assist teams who are attempting to develop your new “Culture-of-teamwork” in a conference room, a common area or through an alternative workplace area, that supports employees who occasionally visit the office.  Support options are also available to teams who have a grand vision to improve (or introduce) the “New culture” of entire organizations/agencies and build a new work environment. They can help you decide if open or closed collaboration seating is optimal and assist with design ideas.

Some organizations need to quickly make changes, when a team shifts to a new project.  There are furniture lines available, that allow your teams to rearrange work spaces, when that improves collaboration.  The beginning of a new project might involve frequent interaction, to develop a plan and then quickly shift to everyone on the team analyzing data.  You can design a work-place that can adjust as your needs shift.

FSA’s partners are available to help you design your agencies new work environment.  They have valuable knowledge on this topic and have tools that can assist with helping you achieve your goals.
